Wishing you a Boerne Star Christmas …

Coffee with Keith

  • Article Image Alt Text

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the press

Not an employee was stirring, we had survived all the stress.

The Star was now hung on the racks with great care

In hopes that more subscribers soon would be there.

Our employees were nestled all snug in the beds

As visions of bonuses danced in our heads.

And Publisher Jim in his kerchief and me in my cap

Had just settled our brains ‘cause the paper was a wrap.

When out near the city there arose such a clatter

As I heard a loud noise and something big shatter.

Away to the window I rose in a flash

Tore open the shutters, was this an I-10 crash?

The moon on the breast of the always dry ground

Gave a luster of midday, and even I frowned.

But what to my wondering eyes did appear

Was Boerne Star driver Melody, not showing fear.

With her always friendly smile so lively and fast

Our Christmas paper had come ... finally, at last!

More rapid than eagles her coursers they came

And she whistled and shouted and called us by name.

Now Kolleen and Kerry and Zachary and Keith

And Jim, Joanie, Victoria and Stephen, grab a wreath.

To the top of our building by climbing the wall

We yelled, “A Christmas edition for our readers, y’ all !”

To subscriber houses the coursers she flew

With a truck full of goodies, and newspapers, too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard at the door

A friendly old sound and so much more....

As I drew in my head, and was turning around,

In The Boerne Star came with a bound.

It was folded in half and contained all the news

Everyone in Kendall County was sure they could use.

It included news and sports and photos and such

And ads and classifieds and info so much.

Despite the holiday, it had the news of the day

Presented in our factual and accurate way.

Since it’s a Friday it had faith and the arts

And Coffee with Keith, and other parts.

On the front was our continuing annual reviews

as well as other things and important news.

It was thorough and factual and all of that

With a holiday theme to read when you sat.

And as always it was our great pleasure

To give you the info with a pinch of good measure.

And when it’s all over and Christmas is past

We’ll start on the next one with the same Star cast.

It’s just part of our job we love doing for you

To give you the ads and the news to view.

So here it is, the holiday’s a week away

When we celebrate another Christmas Day.

From all of us to all of you, this holiday greeting

And as always from me, thank you for reading.
