Pollinator expert due to talk at next NPSOT meeting

The Boerne chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas will feature Shelly Maher on the important topic of Pollinator Basics at the next meeting, Tuesday, Sept.

4. The group will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Cibolo Nature Center, 140 City Park Rd., Boerne.

Maher has worked as a research scientist with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service E. “Kika” de la Garza Plant Materials Center in Kings-ville since 2002.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in horticulture and a Master of Biology from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

She will discuss basic facts and habitat needs of pollinators. Handouts will be included that discuss pollinator habitat, how to build nest boxes and pollinator friendly native plants.
