LAW ENFORCEMENT

The following is a brief, partial recap of incidents reported by the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department. General locations are listed rather than specific addresses. An arrest should not imply guilt or innocence which will be decided in court at a later date. December 12

12:24 p.m., 100 Waring Knoll Dr. – A man reported his home had been damaged by vandals over the last several months.

2:45 p.m., FM 473 & Flat Rock Creek Rd. – A big calf carousing on the roadway was taken back home.

3:34 p.m., 100 Dodge Rd. – A caller complained bike riders riding three to four abreast going up a hill were creating a traffic hazard.

3:56 p.m., 100 Friendship Dr., Comfort – A deputy detained a man in the suspicious vehicle he stopped to check.

3:55 p.m., 100 River Ranch Rd. – Three horses on the lam were headed back home.

4:16 p.m., I-10 mile 537 – A trucker said after he heard someone knocking on the top of his cab, two men jumped off and took out running.

4:27 p.m., 200 Waring Welfare Rd. – It was a day for triple equines – another trio were reported running the road, but were put up nearby.

6:39 p.m., N. Hwy. 87, Comfort – A disturbance broke out among several people at a motel.

8:58 p.m., 700 Altgelt, Comfort – A caller said the man trying to sell 3D pictures out of his van was asked to leave but refused.

Deputies also made 30 traffic stops, assisted the public seven times, checked out one group of suspicious people and two suspicious vehicles, worked three non-injury wrecks and handled three reckless driver reports, two civil matters, five animal calls, five security checks and four false alarms.

December 13

9:58 a.m., 1800 FM 1376 – Firefighters extinguished a controlled burn because of the high winds.

11:09 a.m., 39400 I-10 – A caller said a tire on an oversized construction vehicle was smoking, but it wasn’t found.

11:19 a.m., 100 Birch Rd., Comfort – A woman feared her brother was at her house when he wasn’t supposed to be there.

11:53 a.m., 30700 I-10 – A tailgate was stolen from a dealership.

2:52 p.m., FM 3351 & Hwy. 46 – A man reported construction workers were using an easement they are not permitted to use.

3:09 p.m., 300 Canyon Loop – A woman reported someone broke the locks off her storage units.

3:21 p.m., 1300 FM 473 – An open gate was all the invitation cattle needed to hit the road.

3:43 p.m., High & Third streets, Comfort – Road & bridge workers were needed to clean up the debris when winds took down a tree that was blocking traffic.

4:27 p.m., 300 Skyland Dr. – A woman said when she approached a couple of men looking at packages that had been delivered, they claimed a language barrier and sped away.

5:43 p.m., 500 High St., Comfort – When a caller feared high winds would spread a burn pile, firefighters were called to put it out.

8:03 p.m., 300 FM 474 – A big tree limb down in the road was blocking traffic.

8:26 p.m., N. Hwy. 87, Comfort – A store manager said a man was harassing the staff.

9:49 p.m., 500 FM 473 – A deputy who spied a suspicious vehicle, stopped to check and arrested the driver.

Deputies also made 14 traffic stops, assisted the public three times, checked out two suspicious vehicles, worked one non-injury wrecks and handled three welfare checks, two reckless driver reports, two traffic hazards, three civil matters, two animal calls, two security checks and nine false alarms.
