Boerne Champion wrapped up non-district play Friday night with a victory over visiting Canyon Lake. The Chargers jumped out to a big lead and held on to defeat the Hawks, 44-36.
Champion ends non-district action at 2-1 and opens league play Friday at New Braunfels Canyon.
Champion coach Keith Kaiser said he wasn’t too worried about the fact that his team was up 44-13 before the Hawks scored the final three touchdowns of the game in the final period.
