After getting run ruled by the Champion softball team in the first round of district (14-4), Pieper turned around and defeated the Lady Chargers in the second round on Friday, 9-4, to split the season series. Both teams won at home.

Champion is 12-13 overall and 6-6 in district, just ahead of Veteran Memorial (5-7). This is the final week of the regular season and the Lady Chargers are currently in fourth place in 26-5A heading into Tuesday.

They have to finish in the top four if they are going to make the playoffs, but they have a tough week ahead. Champion hosted Smithson Valley on Tuesday before closing out the regular season Friday at Seguin.
