Laura Tuleta Copeland

Laura Tuleta Copeland, 54, passed away on April 25, 2024. She was born in Houston on Nov. 20, 1969, to Chauncey Claibourne Ulbrich and Laura Eleanor Knowlton.

She was a student of Carrizo Springs Independent School District for the majority of her grade school education, graduated from Boerne High School, and received her bachelor’s degree in computer science from Florida Gulf Coast University.

Tuleta’s career started as a special agent in the FBI and then as a private investigator and founding member of Project Absentis, a non-profit made up of retired and former FBI agents and other law enforcement, public safety and intelligence professionals who seek to assist families of missing persons in locating their loved ones.

Instilled with a passion to help others from her mother, Tuleta devoted a lifetime to helping the downtrodden, overlooked and marginalized.

Tuleta was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her brothers John Ulbrich, Patrick Ulbrich and Joe Tidwell, and her sister Linda Yelvington.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. June 6, 2024, at St. Helena’s Episcopal Church in Boerne, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Project Absentis, P.O. Box 1466, Houston, TX 78023 (projectabsentis.org).
