Transformation House named 'Nonprofit of the Year' at Chamber Gala

BOERNE — The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce named Transformation House as its 2025 Nonprofit Of The Year during its 2025 Chamber Gala on Jan. 25.

“We’re honored to have been selected and so grateful to live and work in such an outstanding community,” said Lori Houck, Transformation House executive director. “We want to congratulate all of the other nominees and winners for their accomplishments.”

Established in 2018, Transformation House, a nonprofit 501(c) (6), is the result of a group of residents coming together to address the growing need for transitional housing for women and children impacted by domestic violence in Kendall County and the surrounding area.

Recognizing the lack of such resources in the region, Transformation House was born. It offers a strengths-based, client-centered program designed to help families transition out of homelessness.

With support from local foundations and partnerships with service providers, the organization grew, adding case management and licensed social workers.

In 2021, the program expanded to a new campus, increasing capacity and adding additional resources including new cottages, office space and a licensed play therapist.

The organization currently focuses on best practices that foster sustainable self-sufficiency for families, helping them achieve financial stability and emotional healing through a holistic, wraparound approach.

There were 18 nonprofits nominated for the Boerne Chamber’s Nonprofit of the Year award that Transformation House won.

Accepting the Nonprofit Of The Year award Jan. 25 at the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala on behalf of Transformation House were Natalie Sales, left, president; Lori Houck, executive director; Becky Welch, board member; and Taylor Breaux, director of donor relations. Submitted photo
