A police dog who died last week following a drug search will be laid to rest with full law enforcement honors. City and police department officials are working on the details of the service for K-9 Chico, who died April 10 after completing a drug search. He leaped from a police vehicle when a latch failed to secure a door, and was struck by oncoming I-10 traffic. A table set up in the Boerne Police Department lobby is overflowing with flowers, cards and words of sympathy for Chico, his handler and the police department.
