SAN ANTONIO - Boerne Champion closed out its second-round series against MacArthur by taking Saturday's winner-take-all Game 3.

The Chargers run-ruled the Brahmas 10-0 in five innings in Saturday's game at the SAISD Complex and advance to the third round of the 5A playoffs.

After dropping Game 1 to the Brahmas 1-0, the Chargers won the next two via shutouts, 6-0 in Game 2, and 10-0 in the third game.

The Mac pitching staff struggled in Saturday's Game 3 as the Brahmas used four different hurlers  to try and stop the bleeding. With a 2-0 lead in the first, the Chargers plated 4 runs in the third and used 5 walks and 1 hit to push in its 4 runs and take a 6-0 lead.

Champion added 3 more runs in the fourth frame and built its lead to 9-0. In the fifth, Owen Kuhl tripled to put the series-ending run at third. Two batters later, Jaedyn Yamaguchi singled to bring in Kuhl to end it.

Pearce Kelly went all 5 innings on the hill for the Chargers and struck out 5, walked 3, scattered 3 hits to earn the shutout win.

Game 2

Boerne Champion won Friday's elimination game against MacArthur to even up their series at 1-1. 

After dropping Game 1 to the Brahmas Thursday 1-0, the Chargers took the second game 6-0 behind solid hitting and pitching.

With a 1-0 lead Friday, Champion's Aidan Smith smacked a bases-clearing double to bring in 3 runs and help the Chargers open up a 4-0 advantage by the third inning. Champion added two more runs in the top of the seventh.

AJ Grizzaffi tossed a 3-hitter for the Chargers and struck out 9 batters to earn the shutout victory from the mound.
