
Maxine Kay Chavana, born Jan. 29, 1938, died May 10, 2025, at the age of 87 after a brave battle with ALS.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Ervin George Rolf and Mildred Inez Kuhn. Maxine lived most of her life in Boerne, Texas, graduating from Boerne High School in 1955.

She began her career with USAA where she met her husband of 56 years, John H. Chavana.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, John, and her parents, Ervin and Mildred Rolf.
Maxine lived a full and exciting life. She loved to travel, visit with friends and enjoyed life on the family ranch, where she cared for her many pets. She was a long-time member of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and held offices with the Frontier Club. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Boerne.
Maxine is survived by her son, Ervin (Cindy) Chavana, and grandson, Trey.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. May 22, 2025, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Road in San Antonio.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her memory to Humane Society or ALS Foundation.
