Sept. 23, 1934 May 17, 2025

Billie Lorene (Hunt) Wiley was born Sept. 23, 1934, to Hobert C. and Alta Mae Hunt in Port Arthur, Texas.

Billie Wiley died May 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, just as she had lived her life — centered around the people she loved most.

To Billie, the best memories were made around the kitchen table where stories were shared, laughter echoed, prayers were said and generations of family gathered.

Even before graduating high school, Billie had a clear vision for her future: “To marry Bennie Wiley and enjoy a happy life.” When asked, she said, “The happiest people are married,” and she proved herself right when she married Bennie on April 28, 1955.

Together, they shared more than 70 joyful years of marriage, building a legacy rooted in love, faith and devotion to family.

Billie and Bennie raised three children, Debra (Charles) Mize, Barry (Christie) Wiley, and Brent (Jennifer) Wiley, and were later blessed with five grandchildren, Sabra (Brad) Maze, Blake (Casey) Ellis, Bambi (Kevin) Bierstedt, Montana Wiley (partner John Salinas), and Annie Wiley; two step-grandchildren Kirt (Nicole) Achenbach and Cody (Bailey) Thrasher, and 13 great-grandchildren.

While Billie enjoyed a career of her own as a caseworker with the Texas Department of Human Services, she took immense pride in being the wife of a law enforcement officer, steadfastly supporting Bennie’s 27-year career and in “their service to others.”

A devoted sports fan, Billie rarely missed a game, especially if one of her children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren were on the field or court. She cheered them on with enthusiasm and pride.

Many cherished family memories were also made on the waters of Lake Buchanan, where she and Bennie spent countless years boating, fishing and simply enjoying each other’s company. Billie’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, loyalty and quiet strength.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Billy and Catulia Tucker and Sanford and Flora Hunt; and her brother, Clayton Hunt.

She is survived by her devoted husband, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Billie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially by cherished family friends, Robert and Cynthia Guyon, and Peggy Dean. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at Ebensberger Fisher Funeral Home, 1265 N. Main St., Boerne, Texas, at 10 a.m. on May 28, 2025, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., and a reception to follow immediately afterward, at the funeral home.

The Wiley family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Alamo Hospice nurses Brandi Campbell and Tina Leggett, hospice aide Nadia Hunter, social worker Jamie Hudson, and Pastor Rolando Trevino for the compassionate care they gave Billie in her final days. We will be forever grateful.
