Geneva School of Boerne was recently honored for having the best TAPPS 4A girls athletic program in the state of Texas.

Each year TAPPS recognizes a champion in each of the six classifications based on points earned in the nine TAPPS sports that take place throughout the year.

Geneva also recently won the Henderson Cup (see separate article) as the top TAPPS 4A school in the state, but that one includes results from girls and boys athletics, along with fine arts and academic competition.

The TAPPS 4A Girls Athletics School of the Year award is based strictly on the nine girls sports that TAPPS offers – volleyball, cross country, swimming, soccer, basketball, golf, softball, tennis and track and field.

Members of the Geneva administrative staff picked up the girls athletic award at the recent TAPPS conference, TAPPSCON25.

The Geneva girls tallied 30.33 points to edge Covenant Christian Academy – Colleyville by 1.33 points after the Colleyville school scored 29 points in girls athletics this past school year.

Geneva picked up 8 points apiece from the volleyball and girls basketball teams after they both finished second in the state. The Eagles earned another 6 points from the girls soccer team after they also advanced to the TAPPS state tournament.

Those three sports – volleyball, basketball and soccer – accounted for 22 of their 30.33 points. Geneva also earned 4 points from golf, 4 from softball and 0.33 from girls tennis.

The award that Geneva picked up is now on display in the school’s competition gym.

Geneva girls soccer coach Becky Doran said she was pleased that the girls at the school were recognized for all their hard work.

“At Geneva, our girls don’t just play to win, they compete with heart, humility and faith. They show up early, stay late, and give everything they have across multiple sports and seasons – not just for themselves, but for each other,” Doran said. “Being named Girls Athletic School of the Year is a testament to their relentless work ethic, team spirit and the strength they draw from their faith.”
