SEPTEMBER 10

• CIBOLO NATURE WALK: Join The Cibolo’s Nature Education Director at 2:30 p.m. for a refreshing 30-minute nature walk along the Cibolo Nature Center trails. Take a midweek break to explore, observe, and connect with the area’s beauty. Group assembles at The Cibolo, 140 City Park Road. A free event.

• KCRTA LUNCHEON: Join the Kendall County Retired Teachers Association for this special luncheon, featuring Dr. Craft and Dr. Boothe. The luncheon will be held at Boerne Church of Christ, 1 Upper Balcones Road, at 11:30 a.m. Tickets $20, sent to 20 Sisterdale Road.

• BOERNE AREA DEMOCRATS meeting: Beginning at 6 p.m., join Boerne Area Democrats to hear from Eric Lane founding member and past president of the San Antonio Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. Please arrive early to order lunch.

• FALL GARDENING CLASS: Dig into fall gardening in the final two parts of the fall gardening series, designed for plant lovers of all experience levels. This week, “Happy Houseplant: A Guide to Indoor Plant Care” is the topic of the 6-7:30 p.m. event at Herff Farm’s Gathering Hall, 33 Herff Road. Classes are $35 each. Next week:“Container Gardening: Grow Anywhere, Anytime.”

• BOERNE COMMUNITY THEATRE’s latest presentation, “Don’t Talk To The Actors,” is in its final weekend run at the theater, 907 E. Blanco Road. • TUG THE TRUCK begins at 8:15 a.m. on East San Antonio Avenue outside Black Rifle Coffee Company. Teams of 10 will attempt to “tug”a 30-ton fire truck 40 feet in the fastest time. $250 per team; and $50 per team for the “Police Car Push” for a three-person team. All funds raised go to the 100 Club of Kendall County, which supports first responders and their families. Event includes a“Guns vs. Hoses”police-vs.fire department tug of war competition.

• BOERNE MARKET DAYS is back on Main Plaza, 101 N. Main St., for its two-day run. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, enjoy great shopping with artists, craftsmen and vendors sharing their creative talents and wares, to the background music of some of Texas’ best homegrown musicians. Free to attend.

• MONARCH BUTTERFLY FUNDRAISER: Carriage House Gallery, 110 Rosewood Ave. in Boerne, will host an opening reception from 3-6 p.m. for a special exhibit featuring artwork by 14 local artists to raise awareness and funds for monarch butterfly conservation. A portion of proceeds from each sale will benefit the Monarch Butterfly Fund, a nonprofit working to protect this endangered species. The exhibit runs through Oct. 31.

SEPTEMBER 14

• MAD HATTERS TEA Party: Show up at the Richter Tavern, 153 S. Main St., from 3-5 p.m. to take part in an afternoon of whimsy and tea. Dress up in your best Alice in Wonderland or Jane Austen attire. Classic teas, snacks and accompaniments. $25 for children 6-18, $35 for adults to include themed cocktail.

SEPTEMBER 16

• HILL COUNTRY PREGNANCY Care Center’s “Sweet Song of Life” annual fundraising gala consists of a catered meal and a program highlighting the impact of their services. The luncheon runs 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the dinner is set for 6-8 p.m., both at the Cana Ballroom, 202 W. Kronkosky St. Register online at www. donatehcpcc.org.

• BOERNE FARMERS MARKET brings locally grown and produced agricultural products, prepared food and artisan specialty goods to town from 4-7 p.m. at 402 E. Blanco Road, in the former courthouse parking lot. Explore the bounty of local farmers and growers, homesteaders, ranchers and artisans that make the market unique. Free to attend.

SEPTEMBER 20

• GVTC GAME DAY 5K: This running event benefits local first responders as they compete for department funding. There will be food vendors, drinks, outdoor games and more. The race begins at 7 a.m. at Knibbe Ranch, 9836 Spring Branch. Register at: gvtc.com/foundation

• ANNUAL VINTAGE FLEA hosted by 8th Street Market: Bring the whole family and enjoy a weekend of unique shopping, delicious food and community fun at 8th Street Market, 523 8th St. in Comfort. There will be vendors selling antiques, art, food and more.
