Craig Lee Carlile, age 65, of Boerne, Texas, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at Holt & Holt Funeral Home in Boerne, Texas.
Craig was born on October 24, 1959, in Carthage, Texas, to Bobby Lewis Carlile and Linda Cathey Carlile. He attended North Carolina State University before beginning a long and dedicated career of service to his country. On Sept. 14, 1979, Craig joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for 23 years until his retirement as a Master Sergeant on Sept. 30, 2002. Working in the Communications-Electronics career field, he served multiple overseas tours and earned numerous decorations, medals, and campaign badges for his service.
While stationed overseas, Craig met the love of his life, Nuna, in Thailand, and the two were married on June 11, 2007. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. Craig was a devoted husband and father, always proud of his children Casey and Carrie, celebrating their talents, character, and academic accomplishments.
Craig’s happiest moments were spent enjoying life’s simple pleasures: fishing with his dad and kids, taking country drives with his family, or watching his favorite sports teams — the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. He loved Formula 1 and NASCAR, old Westerns, rock ’n’ roll and country music, and cooking for the people he loved. His joy in life was always found in togetherness.
In his will, Craig left behind more than financial security; he left his values. He wrote: “It is my intent to encourage my children and their descendants to become independent and educated… Education, integrity, hard work, and a commitment to family and loved ones are the values by which my family has lived their lives and raised their children. I hope that my descendants will allow these same values to guide them throughout their own lives.”
Craig is survived by his beloved wife, Nuna Carlile; his son, Casey; his daughter, Carrie; his parents, Bobby and Linda Carlile; his siblings, Carl Carlile (Kim), Carla Carlile (Scott), and Caron Carlile; and his nephews, Chad Carlile, Cameron Carlile, Jason Roberts, and Jacob Roberts. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lewis and Gladys Carlile, and Wesley and Maye Cathey.
Craig’s family requests that guests attending his service wear comfortable, business casual attire in honor of his wishes — no suits, and no red or black clothing. Likewise, floral tributes are welcome, but please avoid red flowers.
