Kirk vigil Thursday on Plaza

Kirk vigil Thursday on Plaza

Following the tragic assassination of popular conservative activist and podcaster Charlie Kirk, a trio of Republican organizations are sponsoring a prayer vigil/“Celebration Of Life” Thursday in Boerne.

The Kendall County Republican Party, Kendall County Republican Women and Kendall County Republican Club are all sponsoring the event — a Vigil to Honor the Legacy and Life of Charlie Kirk — beginning at 6:45 p.m. Thursday on Main Plaza, 101 N. Main St. in downtown Boerne.

Jennifer Barreras-Rawls, Kendall County Republican Party Chair, Tuesday said the community is invited to participate in honoring Kirk and offering prayers for Kirk, for his family, and the nation.

“We especially encourage our youth to attend; Charlie had a profound impact on their lives,” Barreras-Rawls said. “We recognize the deep sense of loss they feel, and this gathering will be a chance to come together, find comfort and be inspired to carry forward his legacy.” The vigil will begin at 6:45 p.m. at Main Plaza. Music will be provided by local guitarist Noah Curtis, with local artist Faith Jacobs leading attendees in song. There will be a sharing of prayer and invitation.

The program will include heartfelt testimonials from high school students, college students and adults whose lives were touched by his work. Among the speakers will be a representative from Turning Point USA, the organization Kirk co-founded, and a person who collaborated with Kirk on an important endeavor.

“Charlie embodied the values we hold dear as a family and as a conservative community; faith, family and country,” Barreras-Rawls said.

“He was a powerful catalyst and laid the foundation for the important work that still lies ahead, inspiring countless people to stand firm in their beliefs, use their voices, and take action,” she said. “It is now up to us to carry that momentum forward and continue the mission he so passionately advanced.”
