Fall into art: Workshops, movie night
Hill Country Council for the Arts invites you to join “Patrick Saunders: Painting without Borders,” a three-day workshop Jan. 30-Feb. 1, 2026.View details at www.hccarts.org. Courtesy photos

We are honored to welcome Patrick Saunders, recognized nationally for his bold, expressive and dynamic painting style, to “Painting without Borders” Jan. 30, 31, and Feb. 1, 2026.

Known for his ability to capture light and life in any subject, from portraits to landscapes to still lifes, Saunders’ teaching style is approachable, encouraging and transformative. Register today at www. hccarts.org.

Explore the essential techniques for oil painting from direct observation and photography with the award-winning Saunders. Learn to paint any subject, from the most simple to complex, with one approach.

Saunders will demonstrate the process of simplifying the subject and moving to finish as rapidly as possible, in order to add more energy and excitement to your painting.

Students will learn about composition, value, texture, color temperature, and accuracy in paint application.

Each day will begin with a short lecture and full demonstration, followed by one- on- one instruction with students. The class is highly tailored for each individual student.

Class size is limited so students can receive the maximum amount of interaction with the instructor. A list of suggested materials will be provided to all students prior to class.

Whether you are a seasoned painter or just beginning your creative journey, this workshop will help you push the boundaries and paint without limits.

TONIGHT: Movie Night with Hill Country Council for the Arts, Sept. 20 beginning at 8:30 p.m. Join us at The AgriCultural Museum and Arts Center, 102 City Park Road in Boerne. Bring a blanket, chair, favorite snacks and drinks (yes, anything you would like). Our inaugural Movie Night features “The Little Shop of Horrors,” screenplay by Charles Griffith, 1960.

• Hill Country Council for the Arts is a resource for the arts in our community, promotes arts awareness, encourages community engagement and invites partnerships and collaborations.
