1,000 books before kindergarten

"1,000 Books Before Kindergarten" is a great way to initiate a life-long love for reading for your child. Beginning your child’s reading journey early can help them gain the confidence necessary to become a strong reader.

Starting a 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten journey is simple. Come by the library youth desk to pick up directions and your first 100-book counting sheet.

This is an “at-your-own-pace” program. When you are done reading your first 100 books, return your sheet and your child will get their name placed on our “1,000 Books” bookshelf display. For every 100 books read, their name will ascend the bookshelf, and they will receive fun prizes along the way.
