Fair Oaks turns out for Trunk or Treat

Families gathered around Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary Saturday for the annual Trunk or Treat event hosted by the Fair Oaks Ranch Police Department.

The free event invited vendors of all sorts out to distribute sweets to kids and included a dog costume contest.

“We had our biggest community turnout yet, and we loved seeing everyone come out to enjoy the evening with us,” a Facebook post from the Fair Oaks Ranch Police Department reads. “Our officers had fun handing out candy, and our vendors helped make the event even better with their booths and treats. The costumes (and pups) were awesome. You all never disappoint.”

Vendors and activities included Texas Roadhouse, H-E-B, a dunk machine, a decorative pumpkin contest, Poop Police LLC (a dog waste cleanup service), door prizes and dancing.

Children were dressed in a variety of costumes, from KPOP Demon Hunters to Ghostface, to Dorothy, and of course, cops and robbers.

City Manager Scott Huizenga emphasized the event was not for fundraising purposes, but to bring the community together.

“This is the best one yet, I was amazed turning up for this event,” Huizenga said “We kept an eye on the weather, but the timing worked out great. These folks do a fantastic job each year. Everything we do here is done by a volunteer basis to provide a free community event for our residents,” Huizenga added.

The Fair Oaks Ranch Police Department expressed its gratitude for the community turnout.

“Thank you to everyone who stopped by, and to all who helped make this such a fun, safe, and family-friendly event,” the Facebook post reads. “We’re already looking forward to next year.”
