Crestmont Christian Prep’s Blythe repeats as 2025 TAIAO state cross country champ

Peyton Blyth, Olivia Epie and the rest of the Warrior runners from Crestmont Christian Prep in Boerne concluded their cross-country season on Oct. 25 at the 2025 Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations State Cross Country Meet in Sequin.

It was a soggy, rain-soaked course full of standing water puddles and mud pits for the runners to power through, and Crestmont’s Warriors all ran with pride.

Blyth finished his 5k race with a total time of 16:30.08, beating the second-place athlete by over 28 seconds to finish in first place as the 2025 TAIAO Varsity Boys State Champion. That makes back-to-back Varsity Boy’s State Champion titles for the Blyth.

Epie had a top-10 finish and placed 8th in the varsity girls division with a 2-mile time of 13:56.66 and had a 6:58.33 second-mile pace.

Spartan Invitational

Crestmont Christian Prep’s Warrior cross country teams were back in action at the Spartan Invitational on Oct. 11. The course was the most difficult the Warriors had faced all season, a “Northeastern” style course which included a huge hill in the middle of the run that challenged even the most experienced runners.

As the sun rose over the course, sophomore Peyton Blyth wasted no time getting to the front to lead the field. Blyth never surrendered the lead and was aggressive up the hill. He finished his 5k in first place with a time of 17:51.9 and had a 5:45 second mile pace.

Blyth has two first-place and one second-place finish over his last three races up to that point in the season.

Joining the varsity girls division for the first time, freshman Olivia Epie proved she was up to the competition. She joined the lead group after the starting gun, taking the lead in the first half mile. She held off a hard-charging runner by two seconds to secure her first varsity race win. She ran her two-mile race in 14:25.45 seconds and had a 7:12.75 second-mile pace.
