On Saturday, Nov. 1 from 3-6:30 p.m., join us for a vibrant, family-friendly celebration honoring life, love and remembrance — our second annual Dia de los Muertos Party.
Enjoy live mariachi music, free sugar skull face painting, tamales, crafting, Mexican candy and a special storytime with a local author.
While you’re here, visit our community ofrenda, a beautiful altar where we honor those who have passed. It is up in the lobby of the library and you’re invited to bring a photo of your loved one to place on the altar.
Coffee and Car Talk
On the third Saturday of each month, join Shawn Davis, of Ranch Hand Rover, at 1 p.m. for an informative and practical car-care series that puts you in the driver’s seat.
On Nov. 15, Shawn will help you weigh the pros and cons of buying new, versus used, vehicles to help you make the smartest purchase for your budget.
December’s session (Dec. 21) will teach how to spot red flags when shopping for a car, so you can steer clear of costly mistakes. Each session lasts about two hours, and no registration is required.
Live! at the Library
On Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m., get set to enjoy the sounds of the Kenny Grimes Trio. Acclaimed Austin- based guitarist Kenny Grimes, joined by Michael Dvorken and Carl Loschiavo, performing a rich blend of country, Americana and roots music.
A veteran musician with decades of touring and studio experience, Grimes brings exceptional guitar artistry and versatility to the group’s dynamic trio format, creating intimate, expressive performances marked by strong musicianship and improvisational interplay.
Be sure to bring a picnic supper and comfy seating. We offer our monthly “Live! at the Library” series on the third Thursday of every month.
Teen Time
You may not know this, but the library is a temporary port in the storm each day after school. More than 100 young people walk through the door to hang out here while waiting for their grownups to pick them up.
We are happy to host your youngsters, and to demonstrate that we offer plenty of programming for that age group.
Teens can start their week with a little peace of mind with Mindful Mondays. Each Monday, the Hub transforms into a chill zone with a new relaxing activity — think yoga, coloring, journaling, positive affirmations and more.
On Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 4:15 p.m., young people can step away from the screens and into the sunshine as we invite them to join us on the back lawn for good food, good vibes and maybe even a little lawn-game competition. We’ll fire up the grill, blast some tunes and give the video games a break On Wednesday (Nov. 12) at 4:15 p.m., teens can get their creative vibes flowing at Crafternoon. Each month, we teach a new craft, from trendy DIYs to Pinterest-worthy projects, which they will make and take home. All skill levels are welcome, and all supplies are provided.

THE BOOKWORM
The Bookmobile is Here
We have been the proud parents of a baby bookmobile for about two weeks now, and we’re so excited to get started using it.
Right now, we’re just taking turns driving around town, getting used to it. The van is equipped with shelving, technology access, a TV and rotating chairs so that staff can turn around to work at a desk.
It also offers a wheelchair lift that can also allow portable book carts to descend and be picked back up. Right now we are putting on our thinking caps to determine the best way to use the bookmobile. If you have ideas, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
Library Closures
November is the month that the holiday season starts, which lasts through the New Year. We will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. As we and our friends and family give thanks, the library doors will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28. However, we will be open on Saturday, Nov. 29.
