Jerry Watson has been very busy at Boerne Community Theatre lately.
As immediate past president, he continues with some regular tasks each month to help us maintain our programming — picking up the cookies at Bear Moon Bakery for our concessions, wheeling the trash containers out and back to the street, updating the marquee on the side of the building, for instance.
As a director, he has TWO productions in the works right now. First is “Loot,” a dark comedy by Joe Orton will open Friday, Nov. 7, running for three weekends. This show, about two thieves who hide stolen money in a casket, forcing them to find another place for the body, is co-produced by Holt & Holt Funeral Home. Really!
Reservations can be made online at www.boernetheatre. org or call 830-249-9166. Tickets range from $20-$24. This is the last production eligible for season ticket holders.
Before Loot opens, however, Watson has also directed our recent ActIII@ BCT readers’ theatre class that will present a free showcase at the theatre on Saturday, Nov. 1.
Those participating include Bob Carnes, Sonja Jimenez, Denise Fortenberry, Paul Peterson, Kimberly Stoner, Carol Sweatmon, Jennifer Goetz, Kathy Binetti and Frank Binetti. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; the show will start at 7 p.m. There will be wine and snacks available.
Boerne Community Theatre is located at 907 E. Blanco Road in Boerne. The theatre is a certified 501(c)3 nonprofit organization; its mission is to entertain, educate and enrich the community with high quality live theatre.
