Boerne residential garbage and recycling collection will be conducted on the same day beginning Jan. 5, 2026.
Residents and customers who live outside the Herff Ranch subdivision will have their recycling day moved to the same day as the current garbage collection day. Collections on the new schedule begin the week of Jan. 5, 2026.
Herff Ranch residents and customers will have their recycling and garbage collection moved to Thursday, regardless of your current collection schedule. The first collection for Herff Ranch on the new schedule will be Thursday, Jan. 8.
City officials said the update is designed to improve efficiency for residents and the city’s collection contractor, WM, which regularly conducts waste and routing audits to ensure efficient and reliable service with minimal disruption to customers.
The changes are necessary, the city said, to ensure reliable service collection and load balance in the trucks across the city.
WM has updated collection routes to provide full coverage across the city while also building in capacity to reliably serve for years to come. Boerne Utilities is working with WM to provide new maps of collection days and additional information as the change draws near.
The city reminds customers to place recycling and garbage carts at least three feet apart and three feet away from any obstacles like trees, cars or mailboxes. This helps to ensure the trucks can safely pick up the carts. Customers are asked to have the carts at the curb the night before collection day, with the wheels of the cart toward the house.
