Prayer ceremony Thursday at site
The historic Old City Hall building will have a tenant next year when Crestmont Christian Preparatory School of Boerne opens its doors in August.
Originally constructed as Boerne’s first schoolhouse, the building will once again echo with youthful voices filling the hallways, classrooms and playground, according to Laura Lynn, a parent and board director of the private school.
“We’ve been at First Baptist Church for 16 years, and it’s been awesome there,” Lynn said of the school, which has 125 students in its kindergarten- to-12th-grade university educational model.
First Baptist Church is in a growth and expansion mode, she said, “and we decided, if we wish to grow, we probably need our own space.”
A search began in June, although school officials kept an eye focused on the Old City Hall property.
“It was always on our radar. It’s a beautiful building,” she said. “It’s already built out, but we just weren’t sure it was within our reach.”

“We’re so excited to be right there in the heart of the city.”

The building will need minor renovations, including restrooms fitted for school-age children, and the removal of a few non-loadbearing walls to open some former office space for larger classrooms, officials said.
“We want to be excellent partners,” she said. “We’re so excited to be right there in the heart of the city.”
Crestmont will host a prayer meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in front of the school, 402 E. Blanco Road, open to the public and anyone with questions about Crestmont or interested in enrollment.
“We want to pray over the work that’s going into that building, pray for the permitting process, and pray that all things go our way,” she added.
According to the city’s website, the two-story building was constructed in 1910 and used as a school until the town bought it from the Boerne Independent School District in 1951 to become City Hall.
