FAIR OAKS RANCH — The Fair Oaks Ranch finance department recently received “Triple Crown” recognition from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for the fourth consecutive year.
The title is awarded to finance departments that have secured all three of the GFOA’s top honors in a single fiscal year: the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report Award and the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award.
The Triple Crown represents the pinnacle of acknowledgment in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
“Earning the Triple Crown for a fourth year speaks to the consistency and professionalism of our finance department,” said City Manager Scott Huizenga. “These awards reflect the accuracy of our financial reporting, the strength of our budgeting process, and the detailed work that supports the City Council’s decisions each year.”
The finance department recently received the organization’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2023-24 annual comprehensive financial report and the award for outstanding achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting.
These two, combined with previously earned GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation award for its 2023-24 budget, complete the trio of GFOA recognitions for the fiscal year.
This achievement places Fair Oaks Ranch among the limited number of governments that meet all three GFOA standards in a single fiscal year.
The “Triple Crown” represents the pinnacle of acknowledgment in governmental accounting and financial reporting, Huizenga said. This year, the honor was awarded to 400 governments that were able to earn all three of the major awards in the same fiscal year.
The award reflects the city’s continued commitment to transparency, accountability and high quality financial reporting for residents, City Council and stakeholders, the city manager said.
