BOERNE — The Academy of Model Aeronautics charted flying club “BAMS” holds one or more “Fun Fly” events to raise money to donate to a local organization as part of its community involvement.
This year’s donation of $2,000 is going to the Kendall County Parks Department for upkeep and maintenance of the Joshua Springs Park and Preserve off Interstate 10 (exit 533, Welfare).
Located within Joshua Springs Park and Preserve, the BAMS’ flying field has, since 2012, provided members a place to fly remote control and control line aircraft in a safe and spacious area.
Johua Springs Park and Preserve, off I-10 between Boerne and Comfort, provides 365 acres of rich terrain in the Texas Hill Country featuring trails, wildlife viewing, a 9-acre lake for kayaks-fishing, a 2-acre off-leash dog park, covered picnic areas and a frisbee golf course.
