BOERNE — Besa Martin, a county resident for over two decades, has filed to run for Kendall County judge in the upcoming Republican primary.
The party primaries are March 3, with early voting Feb. 17 to Feb. 27. Runoffs are May 26 and the midterm election is Nov. 3.
In a prepared statement, Martin said she brings a wealth of experience as both a rancher who understands the challenges and rewards of rural life, and as a dedicated attorney serving the community and the state.
Since moving to Kendall County in 2003, Martin has become involved in the community in many facets, she said, including as a director for Sonora Bank and serving on the Kendall County Appraisal District Board and the Boerne Public Library Foundation.

In 2016, Gov. Greg Abbott appointed Martin to the Advisory Committee for the Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University; today, she is its presiding officer, according to her statement.
Martin also maintains active memberships with the Kendall County Republican Women and is a Kendall County Republican Club member.
She has been married to Roy Martin Jr. for 30 years, and two of their daughters are graduates of Boerne and Champion high schools.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve Kendall County,” she said. “With my experience, dedication and deep appreciation for this county, I am committed to upholding the values and priorities of our residents.”
She will face off against Kendall County Judge Shane Stolarczyk and Ricky Gleason in the GOP primary.
