BOERNE — Jacques DuBose, a Boerne businessman and nonprofit executive, has announced his candidacy for the U.S. Congress in Texas’ 21st District.
DuBose, a 20-year Navy veteran and a resident of the Texas Hill Country since 2004, said his concerns include improving border control, strengthening states’ rights, focusing on veterans’ issues and stimulating economic growth.
“I understand firsthand the values of the residents who live here, and I look forward to bringing fresh, new leadership from a local community leader who has spent an entire career in service to others,” DuBose said.
DuBose joins a crowded slate for replacing U.S Rep. Chip Roy, the representative since January 2019 who has vacated the seat to run for Attorney General.
DuBose is among 14 Republicans seeking the seat, along with five Democrats and one Independent.
DuBose is a former chairman of the Boerne Chamber of Commerce and has received honors such as Nonprofit of the Year and Ambassador of the Year.
A disabled veteran of 20 years in the U.S. Navy, DuBose said he will be an advocate for veterans’ issues, including better access to mental health treatment and healthcare.
DuBose has spent the last two decades in executive roles with nonprofits, including as executive director of the American Red Cross of the Texas Hill Country, and a regional director with the Wounded Warriors Project.
The Primary Election is Tuesday, March 3, 2026. The last day to register to vote is Feb. 2; early voting runs Feb. 17-27.
