The Boerne Champion boys soccer team started off the new year on the right foot after the Chargers defeated Madison Tuesday night.
Champion opened its 2026 season with a 3-2 win over the Mavericks.
Noah Umbreit, Bryce Knell and Jones Ferguson all knocked in single goals, while Diego Flores and Ethan Souza tallied assists.
The Chargers (1-0) are entered in the Harlandale Tournament this weekend and are in pool play with McCollum, Brackenridge and Eagle Pass.
There are 16 teams entered in this year’s tourney hosted by Harlandale.
