LOCKHART – Boerne Champion used its vaunted ground game to defeat Lockhart on Friday night at Lions Stadium.

The Chargers rushed for eight touchdowns to muzzle the Lions 56-0 and remained unbeaten this year at 6-0. They are 4-0 in district and are off this Friday.

Caleb Farias led the Chargers' ground attack after he rushed for five touchdowns, two in the first quarter, and tacked on three more TDs in the second half. Farias had 85 rushing yards by the end of the first quarter and finished with about 150 yards in the game.

Chargers QB Ryder Flugence scrambled in from 46 yards for a score, while Easton Hamel and Julian Navarette both added rushing touchdowns as well.

Champion’s offense was steady and consistent and tallied 14 points in each of the four quarters to get 56 points as Ethan Haines went 8 for 8 on extra points.

The Chargers have now scored 56, 61, 59, 55, 62 and 60 points in their six wins, while the defense pitched its second shutout this season on Friday.

In their other games, the Champion defense has only given up 3, 7, 14 and 32 points as they’ve outscored their opponents by almost 300 points, 353-56.

Champion’s defense forced nine punts on Friday and turned the Lions away two other times after they went for it on fourth down but couldn’t get a first down.

After a bye week, the Chargers resume district play by hosting Seguin and then have Smithson Valley, Austin McCallum and Manor left on the schedule.
