Businessman and veteran Army aviator Traften Werenskjold is taking over the helm at the Kendall County Republican Party, officials announced.
He steps into the GOP leadership role vacated by former Chairwoman Jennifer Barreras-Rawls, who has moved on to a new opportunity.
The party’s county executive committee, or precinct chairs, and officers “are grateful for her leadership during her time as county chair. Her vision and drive will be sorely missed,” said Art Humphries, the GOP precinct chair.
Werenskjold co-founded and leads two Texas businesses: Down to Fly, a veteran- owned aviation apparel and fulfillment company, and Bandit Bin Cleaners, providing residential and commercial trash-bin cleaning services and pet-waste removal across the Hill Country.
A veteran, entrepreneur and lifelong conservative living in Boerne, Werenskjold’s passion for aviation began early, he said.
With his parents’ support, he started flying at 14 and later became one of the rare “high school to flight school” Army aviators, he added.
Officials said he has logged more than 2,400 total flight hours across manned rotorcraft, fixed-wing aircraft and unmanned drones.
He also conducts experimental flight testing on largescale, next-generation unmanned platforms.
