Champion boys finish second at Harlandale soccer tourney

The Boerne Champion boys soccer team had a strong showing at the Harlandale Tournament to open their 2026 season.

Champion (3-2) advanced all the way to the championship match and finished second at the tourney.

The Chargers were home Tuesday to open district play against Veterans Memorial. They visit Smithson Valley on Friday.

At the tourney, Champion played Harlingen in the finals and lost, 3-0, to finish second.

Before that, the Chargers beat Jefferson in the semifinals, 3-0, to advance to the title tilt.

In pool play, the Chargers went 2-1 after they lost to McCollum on the first day, 1-0.

Champion bounced back to win the next two. The Chargers defeated Brackenridge 6-2 and received goals from five different players. From there, the Chargers closed out pool play by defeating Eagles Pass, 2-0.

The Lady Chargers were off last weekend and opened district play at Veterans Memorial Tuesday. They host No. 1 stateranked Smithson Valley this Friday, 7:15 p.m.
