Canyon Lake snapped Comfort High’s fourgame win streak Friday night in Comfort.
The visiting Hawks basketball team defeated the Bobcats, 58-41, and dropped CHS to 15-8 overall. The Comfort boys were off Tuesday and open district play Friday at Ingram.
The Cats traded baskets with the Hawks in the first half but struggled in the second half. Comfort was up 30-26 at the break after recording 15 points in each of the first two quarters, but only managed 9 in the third stanza and 2 in the final period.
Canyon Lake heated up in the second half and outscored the Cats 32-11 over the final two periods.
Jared Valadez finished with 11 points, Jovani Zapata added 10 points and Jackson Dear scored 9. Omar Rivera had 5 points, Alex Padilla netted 4 and Mario Portugal hit for 2.
Dear grabbed 9 rebounds, Zapata and Valadez dished out 3 assists each and Valadez came up with 3 steals.
