After a rough start to district play, the Wagner boys basketball team is starting to play well and has won three of its last four contests in 26-5A.
Included in that run is Tuesday’s 66-46 victory over visiting Boerne High. The Thunderbirds beat the Greyhounds, 66-46, as the teams get ready to close out the first round of district action.
The Greyhounds fall to 13-12 overall and 3-4 in district. They hosted Kerrville Tivy Friday to close out the first round and begin the second round of district Tuesday at front runner Veterans Memorial. It’s a battle every night in rugged 26-5A. Boerne, Kerrville Tivy, Wagner and Champion are all 3-4 after Tuesday, while Alamo Heights and Pieper are 4-3 and all trying to catch Veterans Memorial (6-1) and New Braunfels (6-2) Smithson Valley is out of the mix at 0-7.
