to file
The race is on for school board and city elections May 2. The filing period opened this week.
As of press deadline, only incumbents in Boerne, Fair Oaks Ranch and the Boerne Independent School District have filed for reelection.
BOERNE
Councilman Ty Wolosin took to social media to announce his desire to return to his District 1 seat on the Boerne City Council.
“After much reflection and many heartfelt conversations with family, friends and business partners, the path forward has become clear: I am officially running for one more term on the Boerne City Council,” Wolosin stated.
Joining Wolosin on the Boerne ballot is District 3 Councilman Kyle Mickelsen, appointed to the dais in September to fill out the term left vacant when former Councilman Quinten Scott moved away.
Fair Oaks Ranch
Fair Oaks Ranch incumbents Keith Rhoden, in Place 2, and Jonathan Swarek in Place 6 have turned in their election packets and will be on the ballot for City Council.
Rhoden was first elected to the seat in 2023, besting three opponents.
Swarek secured his spot in February last year. He was the lone candidate who filed to run for the Place 6 seat left open when former Councilwoman Chesley Muenchow stepped down, having moved from the city.
Boerne ISD
School board President Kristi Schmidt and board Secretary Rich Sena have filed for reelection to their seats.
Schmidt and Sena jointly announced their reelection campaigns Jan. 14, the first day of election filing.
Candidates have until 5 p.m. Feb. 13 to file for office.
The last day to register to vote is April 2; early voting runs April 20-28; and polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day, May 2.
