Boerne soccer squads top Tivy by one goal

The Boerne High varsity soccer teams tangled with the Antlers of Kerrville Tivy last Friday and both Greyhound teams recorded victories by one goal.

The Lady Greyhounds won at home 1-0, while the Boerne boys took down the Antlers in Kerrville, 5-4.

BHS played Veterans Memorial Tuesday and then match up against Smithson Valley on Friday.

Varsity Girls

Friday’s contest at BISD Stadium turned into a defensive struggle between the Lady Greyhounds and Lady Antlers.

There was only one goal in the match and the game winner came from Bella Pettet, while Molly Miller picked up the assist.

The Lady Greyhounds improved to 6-2 overall and remained unbeaten in 26-5A at 2-0.

Boerne was at Veterans Memorial Tuesday and hosts No. 1 state-ranked Smithson Valley on Friday.

Varsity Boys

JP Santa Maria tallied 2 goals, while Shae Gonzales, James Canavan and Ramzy Handal all netted single goals in Boerne’s 5-4 win.

Gonzales, and Santa Maria both recorded 2 assists and Canavan had the other assist.

Boerne improved to 4-1 overall and remained perfect in district at 2-0. The BHS boys hosted Veterans Memorial Tuesday and are at Smithson Valley on Friday.

The Boerne High girls get ready to start Friday’s match against Kerrville Tivy.
