BHS swimmers get in one last tune up before district

Boerne High swam in one last meet before entering its district meet scheduled for this week.

The Greyhounds were recently entered in the SWISD Splash and Dash and will return to Southwest ISD for its district meet scheduled for Friday, Jan. 23.

RESULTS (Top 10)

Varsity Girls

BHS had two girls teams place in the top 5 of the 200-yard medley relay after Karen Gray, Lauren Summers, Ansley Schiller and Michelle Mendoza placed 2nd with a 2:09, while Catherine Bailey, Violet Gothard, Carly Robertson and Abigail Jendrusch combined for 4th with a 2:19. Another relay team was 10th in the race after Carys Kapellusch, Sophie Speck, Kennedy Appel and Giselle Grandich finished with a 2:37.

Schiller and Jendrusch were 5-6 in the 200-yard freestyle with times of 2:16 and 2:18, while Karen Gray was 8th in 2:24 and Catherine Bailey came in 10th with a 2:32.

Catherine Bailey finished 8th in the 50 backstroke after posting a 36.16, Carly Robertson placed 3rd in the 200 IM, Kennedy Appel was 7th in 3:12 and Sophie Speck came in 10th in 3:23.

Michelle Mendoza took 4th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 28.23 and Kennedy Appel was 8th in 30.61, while Ansley Schiller posted a 1:14 for 3rd in the 100 butterfly and Karen Gray was 4th in the race with a 1:15. Carys Kapellusch and Addison Stavinoha were 7th and 9th in the race with times of 1:34 and 1:55, while Lauren Summers won the 50-yard breaststroke by clocking in at 32.35 and Violet Gothard was 5th in 40.13.

In the 200-free relay, Summers, Schiller, Jendrusch and Mendoza were 2nd in 1:51, Karen Gray, Gothard, Robertson and Bailey teamed up for 6th in a time of 2:05 and Speck, Kapellusch, Grandich and Appel were 8th in 2:16.

Carly Robertson, Kirstynn Williamson and Addison Stavinoha were 3rd, 6th and 7th in the 500 freestyle with times of 6:53, 8:10 and 9:02.

Mendoza, Karen Gray, Bailey and Kendall Gray captured 1st place in the 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:55, while Gothard, Speck, Appel and Robertson were 5th with a time of 2:10 and Kapellusch, Shaw, Williamson and Grandich were 9th in 2:24.

Kendall Gray placed 4th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:04.14, Karen Gray was 6th in 1:04.62, while Michelle Mendoza and Catherine Bailey were 7th and 8th in the race with times of 1:04 and 1:05.

Michelle Mendoza came in 4th in the 50 butterfly after posting a 31.69, Kennedy Appel was 8th in 37.73 and Carys Kapellusch came in 10th in 41.40.

Kendall Gray won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:12, Carly Robertson was 7th in 1:22 and Sophie Speck came in 10th with a 1:33. Karen Gray also placed 2nd in the 100 IM with a time of 1:15, Kennedy Appel was 3rd in 1:22 and Carys Kapellusch finished 7th in 1:30.

Carly Robertson took 2nd in the 100 breaststroke after posting a 1:24, Catherine Bailey was 4th in 1:25 and Violet Gothard was sixth in 1:28.

In the boys 400-yard freestyle relay, Mendoza, Bailey and the two Grays combined for 2nd with a time of 4:21. Another relay consisting of Appel, Gothard, Kapellusch and Robertson was 6th in 4:52.

Varsity Boys

The Greyhounds had two relays place in the 200-yard medley after Zayden Arnold, Tanner Smith, Cannon Kunz and Leo Nunez combined for 6th with a 2:04, while Stone Wagner, Peyton Dadd, Ty Jones and Dustin Farar teamed up for 8th with a 2:18.

Kunz placed 10th in the 200 freestyle after posting a 2:18, while Arnold and Jones went 9-10 in the 50 back with times of 32.58 and 34.17. Cannon Kunz also placed 7th in the 100 butterfly after turning in a 1:07 and Leo Nunez was 9th in the 50 breaststroke in a time of 36.50.

In the 200 free relay, Leo Nunez, Tanner Smith, Zayden Arnold and Cannon Kunz teamed up for 8th with a time of 1:52.

The 200-yard free relay team of Tanner Smith, Dustin Farar, Stone Wagner and Leo Nunez were 7th with a 1:53 Leo Nunez placed 9th in the 100 free after posting a 58.44, while Tanner Smith took 3rd in the 100 IM by turning in a time of 1:15, Jack Smith was 6th in 1:22 and Parker Smith came in 9th in 1:24.
