BHS girls basketball team collects another 26-5A win

Boerne High keeps collecting district wins in girls basketball and defeated another 26-5A opponent Tuesday night at home.

Veterans Memorial, winless in district, visited Greyhound Gym on Tuesday and fell to the Boerne High girls, 59-23.

BHS improved to 9-2 in district (21-7 overall) and have only lost to one team in 26-5A and that is to No. 1 state-ranked Wagner.

The Lady Greyhounds were at Smithson Valley Friday and will host Boerne Champion on Tuesday in a crosstown battle.

Boerne took control early and was up 21-3 by the end of the first quarter. The Lady Patriots played much better in the second stanza and netted 14, but BHS still outscored them, 18-14, for the 39-17 halftime lead.

The Lady Hounds closed it out by winning the second half, 20-6, as Coach Amy Ruede shuffled players in and out.

Nine BHS players scored and 11 saw time on the court on Tuesday. Addison Saur led the team with 14 points and made it a double-double after she pulled down 12 rebounds, while Sutherlin Menn was also in double figures after dropping in a dozen and she also dished out a team-high 4 assists.

Addison Palluch added 9 points, Oleyvia Ramos tallied 8, Addison Neal and Hartlee Menn finished with 4 points apiece, Shaylee Allen and Emery Reyes both chipped in with 3 points and JT Hernandez added 2 points. Ryan Cooper and Melia Gonzalez both played but didn’t score.

Saur came up with 6 steals and Ramos blocked 3 shots.
