The Geneva girls won their second district game in a row after the Eagles defeated Holy Cross Tuesday night in Boerne.
Geneva claimed the 66-30 victory and is 8-17 overall and 4-3 in district. The Eagles played Friday at New Braunfels Christian Academy in second-round action and host Corpus Christi John Paul II on Tuesday.
Geneva was in control early and held a 22-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. Holy Cross hit 10 in the second, but the Eagles still outscored them, 12-10, for the 34-15 halftime lead.
The Eagles went up by 30 points in the second half and won the third quarter 13-4 to take a 47-19 lead into the fourth quarter where they outscored the Lady Knights, 19-11 to close it out.
Payton Boles had a strong game and finished with 26 points on 10 of 13 shooting. Sopris Oglesby also had a good shooting night and tallied 17 points after going 6 of 9 from the field.
Reese Smith netted 8, Amelia Morgan added 7, Londyn Winchell scored 4, while Gracyn Miller and Lexi Ogelsby both chipped in with 2.
Sopris Oglesby grabbed 7 rebounds, came up with 6 steals and dished out 2 assists, all team highs in those categories.
