Elkins seeking return to commission seat

BOERNE — Former Kendall County Precinct 2 Commissioner Richard Elkins has announced his candidacy for a return to that seat in the May 2 election.

“It was my privilege and honor to serve as your County Commissioner for Precinct 2 and Judge Pro Tem,” said Elkins, a commissioner from 2015-2022.

“I am committed to work hard to develop affordable common-sense solutions that will enable every person in our county to live with dignity, opportunity and security for today and into the future,” he added.

Elkins and his wife, Pat, are Hill Country natives with generational ties to the land.

His formal education includes engineering from IBM at the University of Alabama, chief information officer certification for executives from Carnegie Mellon University, and executive leadership training from the Center for Creative Leadership.

Some of the commissioners’ court accomplishments during his tenure include: completion of the county’s EMS facility; reducing the county’s tax rate by 2.5 cents; expanding State Highway 36 to four lanes between Herff and Amman roads; and completion of the new law enforcement center and jail.

“I am a firm believer in fiscal responsibility and will continue to be your voice in local, state and national issues,” he said.
