Eagles hoops squads split games at NBCA

The Geneva School of Boerne basketball teams visited New Braunfels Christian Academy last Friday as they continued district play.

There were mixed results after the girls won, but the boys lost to the Wildcats.

Geneva hosted Corpus Christi John Paul II Tuesday in doubleheader action and will visit Corpus Christi Friday for another league contest.

Varsity Girls

Geneva has won three straight in district after the girls won Friday’s road game, 66-45. The Eagles improved their district record to 5-3 and are 9-17 overall.

It was a good night for Geneva after they outscored NBCA in every quarter. They were up 36-21 at halftime and won the second half, 30-24.

Reese Smith led the Eagles with 17 points, Payton Boles added 15 and Sopris Oglesby finished with 10 to make it three in double figures.

Lexi Oglesby netted 7, AnnaClaire Bussey chipped in with 6, Gracyn Miller and Carlyle Harden both recorded 4 and Amelia Morgan had 3.

Ellie Schwandt led the Wildcats with 24 points.

Sopris Oglesby pulled down a team-high 6 rebounds and also had 3 assists.

Varsity Boys

Geneva was looking to get back on the winning track but was defeated by the Wildcats, 58-33. The Eagles fall to 1-7 in district and 8-15 overall and have dropped five straight in district.

Their lone district win came against the Centurions from CC JP II, who they hosted Tuesday. They’ll visit Corpus Christi Friday to take on Incarnate Word.
