Boerne High kept Smithson Valley winless in 26-5A basketball after the Greyhounds defeated the Rangers Friday in Boerne, 57-26.
The Greyhounds are 14-14 overall and 4-6 in district. They’ll visit Champion on Wednesday and will host Alamo Heights on Friday.
Boerne is in seventh place with four wins in 26-5A, but teams 3-4-5-6 have five victories, so the Greyhounds are still in the mix with six district games left.
Champion (5-4), Alamo Heights (5-5), Pieper (5-5) and Tivy (5-5), along with Boerne (4-6) and Wagner (3-6) are all in the hunt chasing Veterans Memorial (9-1) and New Braunfels (8-2).
BHS jumped out to a quick start last Friday and led the Rangers 18-3 by the end of the first quarter. SV went another nine minutes before they scored again and only finished with seven points by halftime.
Boerne only scored six points in the second but still took a 24-7 lead into intermission. The Hounds picked it up in the second half and outscored the Rangers, 33-19, to get the 31-point win.
