Lady Hounds take 2nd at district swim meet

SAN ANTONIO – Boerne High finished 2nd and 6th at the District 28-5A swim meet held last weekend at the Southwest ISD Aquatics Center.

The Lady Greyhounds tallied 133 points to finish second behind Champion (198), while New Braunfels (96) was third, followed by Southwest (42), SW Legacy (14) and Jay (11).

The BHS boys were sixth with 36 points. Champion (201) won the boys title, followed by NB (126), Southwest (74), SW Legacy (40), Jay (38) and BHS (36).

The top six finishers advance to regionals set for Feb. 6-7 at the SW ISD Aquatics Center.

Varsity Girls (Top 10) 

Karen Gray placed 3rd in the 200 free at 2:10, Abigail Jendrusch was 5th in 2:14, Catherine Bailey came in 6th in 2:23 and Carys Kapellusch finished 8th in 2:32.

Ansley Schiller was 4th in the 200 IM in 2:33, Kennedy Appell placed 10th in 3:03, Lauren Summers came in 2nd in the 50 free with a 25.87, Brinley Robinson took 4th in 26.58 and Kendall Gray was 6th in 27.0 and Michelle Mendoza finished 9th in 27.87.

Ansley Schiller placed 3rd in the 100 butterfly in 1:12 and Samantha Shaw was 10th in 2:05, Sarah Heilesen came in 5th in the 100 free with a 58.55, Abigail Jendrusch, Ashlyn Jendrusch and Michelle Mendoza went 8-9-10 with times of 1:00.32, 1:00.66 and 1:03.

Karen Gray took 2nd in the 500 with a 5:50, Kirstynn Williamson placed 6th in 7:34, Addison Stavinoha was 7th in 7:52 and Giselle Grandich finished 8th in 8:02.

Sarah Heilesen and Brinley Robinson went 2-3 in the 100 backstroke with times of 1:03, 1:05, Kendall Gray was 6th in 1:10 and Catherine Bailey clocked in at 1:17 for 10th.

Lauren Summers took 2nd in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:07, Ashlyn Jendrusch was 4th in 1:17, Carly Robinson finished 5th in 1:19 and Violet Gothard came in 6th in 1:24.

The Lady Hounds were 2nd in the 200-yard medley relay with a 1:55, the 200-freestyle relay recorded a 1:48 for 2nd and in the 400-free relay, the Lady Hounds were 3rd with a 4:05.

Varsity Boys (top 10) 

Dustin Farar placed 8th in 2:30 in the 200 freestyle and Parker Smith was 10th in 2:32.

Zayden Arnold and Tanner Smith were 10th and 11th in the 200 IM with times of 2:41 and 2:45, Cannon Kunz placed 5th in the 50 free in 24.70, Zac Pyle was 8th in 26.69 and Riley Walters came in 9th in 27.40, while Peyton Dadd finished 11th in 27.59.

Cannon Kunz finished 5th in the 100 fly in 59.52, Zac Pyle clocked in at 58.48 for 9th in the 100 freestyle, Dustin Farar posted a 6:32 in the 500 free and Zayden Arnold posted a 1:16 for 10th in the 100 backstroke.

The BHS boys were fourth in the 200-medley relay in 2:00, the 200-freestyle relay came in 4th in 1:47 and in the 400-free relay, the BHS boys were 6th after recording a 4:19.
