The Pieper soccer teams were able to sweep Boerne Champion in district soccer last Friday night.

The Charger boys hosted the Warriors, and the Champion girls were at Pieper.

Champion played New Braunfels Tuesday, tangle with Wagner Friday and close out the first round of district against Kerrville Tivy on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Varsity Boys

A late goal by Pieper turned into the game winner for the Warriors and helped them defeat Champion in Boerne on Friday, 2-1.

It was 1-1 at the half and looked like it might be headed to a draw, but Pieper took advantage on a breakaway to knock in the clincher.

The Warriors had another chance at a goal earlier on another breakaway but missed to keep it tied. They didn’t miss another opportunity later in the game.

Kefe Omokuru had Champion’s only goal and Carson Flamm recorded the assist for the Chargers (6-5, 2-3).

Varsity Girls

Friday’s contest was 1-1 at halftime, but Pieper was able to knock in two second half goals to defeat the Lady Chargers, 3-1.

Champion is 5-3-1 overall and 1-3-1 in district. They hosted New Braunfels Tuesday, visit Wagner Friday and then close out the first round of district on Feb. 10 by hosting Kerrville Tivy.

Maggie Hall tallied Champion’ only goal on the assist from Claire McClain.
