Boerne High took on Alamo Heights in district soccer last Friday and whenever the Greyhounds and Mules play, the matches always seem to be close.

That was the case Friday after the boys and girls contests were decided by one goal each. The BHS boys won, 2-1, while the Lady Mules defeated the Boerne girls, 1-0.

Varsity Girls

Like the boys match, it was 0-0 at halftime in the girls contest at Boerne ISD Stadium.

The Mules finally broke the ice with a goal with about 20 minutes left and held on for the 1-0 win.

BHS was off Tuesday and visits Pieper on Friday before closing out the first round against NB on Feb. 10.

The Lady Hounds are 8-4 overall and 4-2 in district.

Varsity Boys

The BHS boys edged the Mules 2-1 Friday night in San Antonio to stay undefeated in district play.

Boerne is 5-0-1 in 26-5A and is 7-1-1 overall. They were off Tuesday and will host Pieper on Friday. They close out the first round against New Braunfels on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Boerne (5-0-1), Pieper (4-0-2) and NB (4-0-1) are all in the top 3 in the district standings entering this week, with the Greyhounds in first place.

In last Friday’s match, Boerne broke a 0-0 tie at halftime with two goals in the second half to go up 2-0 before the Mules finally got on the board to make it 2-1, which is where it stayed.

Shae Gonzales and James Canavan both tallied goals for the Greyhounds and Canavan also added an assist.
