Lady Greyhounds beat Mules, secure second place in 26-5A

Boerne High solidified second place in the 26-5A girls basketball standings after the Lady Hounds defeated Alamo Heights last Friday on the road, 60-22.

BHS is 12-2 in district and 24-7 overall. They were off Tuesday and home Friday against Pieper before finishing district play at New Braunfels.

Wagner is in first place in 26-5A at 13-0, while Boerne is in second and can’t be caught by thirdplace Pieper (9-5). Kerrville Tivy and Smithson Valley are fighting it out for fourth place at 7-6.

Once the postseason begins, the final placement in district doesn’t matter for the playoff teams because the top two enrollment schools go to the 5A-DI bracket, and the smaller two go to the 5A-DII bracket no matter how they finished in the regular season.

It looks like Pieper and Wagner will be DI schools and Boerne and whoever else makes it will go into the DII bracket.
