Geneva School names Class of ‘26 valedictorian, co-salutatorians

Geneva School of Boerne has named Elle Chalmers as its 2026 valedictorian and Abigail Bussey and Sopris Oglesby as co-salutatorians.

The three seniors will deliver addresses at the private school’s commencement exercises in May. According to a news release:

• Chalmers, daughter of Rob and Stacy Chalmers, has served as president of the National Honor Society, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Geneva’s Grace Empowered Network for Medical Education, or GENMED, Club. She was a three-year member of Geneva’s Boardwalk yearbook, serving as editor in chief and editor of content, and belongs to the Quill & Scroll Journalistic Honor Society.

She also competed on the varsity volleyball and softball teams and received Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Academic All-State recognition for softball. Chalmers also was named a National Merit Rural and Small Town Scholar by the College Board and served on Geneva’s Student Senate. She plans to attend Texas A&M University in the fall for nursing.

• Bussey, daughter of Hank and Stephanie Bussey, is the executive co-managing editor and executive editor of photography for the award-winning Geneva Quarterly magazine. She has contributed to Geneva Quarterly for four years, which has earned the Silver Crown Award.

She was a four-year member of the varsity swim team and received Academic All-State honors, earning individual third place at a state competition in the 200 freestyle, fifth in 100 freestyle, seventh in 100 backstroke and sixth in 100 butterfly, and placed third in the 200 free relay two years and the 200 medley relay last year. She also ran on the cross-country team for three years.

Bussey participated in varsity choir, earning TAPPS superior ratings as a solo competitor, a women’s competitor and a men’s and women’s choir competitor. She is an active member of the NHS and earned Headmaster’s List and Faculty Commendations for four years. This autumn, she plans to attend Baylor University.

• Oglesby, daughter of Bill and Audrey Oglesby of Fair Oaks Ranch, is the executive editor and executive managing editor of the Geneva Quarterly magazine. She was recognized on the Headmaster’s List summa cum laude and as a Faculty Commendation recipient.

She was named PSAT National Merit Recognition Program Commended Scholar, AP Scholar and received National Rural and Small-Town Recognition from the College Board. She was also named Regional Scholar for the Classical Learning Test.

Oglesby served as captain for girls varsity basketball and volleyball and received Academic All-State and Second Team All-District for volleyball, and Second Team All-District for basketball.

She served as vice president of communications for the National Charity League, Boerne-Fair Oaks Chapter, and received the Modellette Award for her service.

She is a member of NHS, vice president of GENMED and a Geneva Lewis House Officer for Discipleship.

She received first- and third-place awards in TAPPS Environmental Portrait Photography as well as honorable mention in the Landscape/Scenic category. With offers from at least a half-dozen universities, Oglesby plans to pursue a physician-assistant program at the institution she selects.
