Chargers softball team run rules Harper

Boerne Champion scored 10 runs in its last two at bats to defeat Harper last Friday in a non-district softball game at Charger Field, 14-4, in five innings.

It’s Champion’s first win of the season and improves them to 1-1. The Chargers resumed district play Tuesday at home against Smithson Valley, and they are in the Abilene Tournament this weekend.

In Friday’s contest, the Chargers were up 4-0, but Harper tied it at 4-4 with 4 runs in the top of the fourth frame. That’s when Champion turned it up a few notches and tallied 5 runs in the bottom half of the inning to retake the lead at 9-4.

The Chargers closed it out with 5 more runs in the bottom of the fifth to kick in the mercy rule.

Torin Tucker took 3 walks and tripled before scoring 4 runs, Mylie Parker tripled and doubled and scored twice, Reese Rogers hit 2 singles, Teagan Rogers singled, scored twice and picked up an RBI, while Molly Baxter singled and scored two runs.

Parker picked up the win from the circle and went all five innings. She scattered 2 hits, gave up no earned runs, walked 4 and struck out 11.
