A strong second quarter propelled the Wagner boys basketball team to a victory over Boerne High last Friday at Greyhound Gym.
Boerne was leading by a point at the end of the first quarter, 15-14, but the Thunderbirds outscored the Greyhounds in the second, 22-8, and never trailed from there.
Wagner went on to defeat the Greyhounds, 66-52. Boerne dropped to 4-11 in district and 14-19 overall. They closed out the regular season Tuesday at Kerrville Tivy.
The Greyhounds had district wins against Veterans Memorial and Alamo Heights; both playoff teams, and their other two came against Smithson Valley.
