Both the Boerne Independent School District and the Fair Oaks Ranch City Council will see contested races May 2, according to the latest candidate filings.

Local entrepreneur and volunteer Michael Ethridge turned in his Boerne ISD trustee application just before the filing deadline Friday to run for Place 7.

He faces incumbent Rich Sena, a longtime trustee and businessman.

Board President and Place 6 trustee Kristi Schmidt drew no opposition and will be reelected as a result.

Fair Oaks Ranch saw a challenger for one of its two council seats.

Incumbent Jonathan Swarek will face Matthew Reigelsperger in a bid to claim the Place 6 seat.

Fair Oaks Place 2 candidate Keith Rhoden does not face a challenger.

The city of Boerne has no contested races on the May ballot.

District 1 Councilman Ty Wolosin and District 3’s Kyle Mickelsen drew no contenders.

Early voting is April 20 through April 28. The last day to register to vote is April 2. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 2, Election Day.
