Boerne’s rally against Kerrville Tivy came up short Tuesday as the Greyhound softball team hosted the Lady Antlers in their 2026 home opener.
Tivy jumped out to a 4-0 lead before BHS rallied with 3 runs to make it a 1-run game at 4-3, but that’s where it ended as the Antlers held on for the victory.
It’s Boerne’s first loss and drops them to 5-1 overall (1-1 in district). The Lady Hounds are in the Edgewood Tournament this weekend.
A 3-run homer by Bailey King in the second inning gave Tivy a 3-0 advantage. The Antlers added another run in the third and bumped the lead to 4-0.
BHS had a chance to cut into the lead in the second and had runners at second and third with no outs, but the Antlers turned a double play for two quick outs and then retired the side with a pop up to end the frame.
The Lady Hounds got on the board in the fourth after Lizzie Thornton doubled to bring in Addison Reidy, who also doubled, and it was 4-1.
In the sixth, Reidy smacked a 2-run home run and it was 4-3 with one out, but Boerne only had one more base runner the rest of the way and didn’t score any more runs.
Both teams finished with 7 hits, and Reidy swung a hot bat for the Greyhounds after smacking a homer and a double, while collecting 2 RBI and scoring 2 runs. Tessa Murphy singled and scored, while Kenley Thomason and Thornton hit one double each.
Micah Bellamy went the distance in the circle and gave up 7 hits, 3 earned runs, 1 walk and struck out 5.
